Stronger Than Expected
Guys, "Please note, this is a fictional story created purely for fun and entertainment, with no intention to hurt anyone's feelings."
It was the end of the school day, and most students had already left. A sudden downpour had trapped a few remaining students inside the gymnasium. Among them was Riya, a final-year student, and Ms. Sharma, the school’s sports teacher.
Ms. Sharma, known for her strict yet kind demeanor, was organizing equipment when she noticed Riya lingering by the door.
“Riya, why aren’t you heading home?” Ms. Sharma asked, adjusting the whistle around her neck.
Riya shrugged. “The rain’s too heavy, ma’am. I thought I’d wait it out here.”
Ms. Sharma smiled. “Good idea. No need to get drenched.”
They chatted casually as Ms. Sharma continued her work. Riya, who was known for her athleticism and strength, started helping move some of the heavier gym mats.
Ms. Sharma laughed lightly. “I think you might be stronger than me, Riya. Maybe I should have you lead warm-ups for the juniors next week.”
Riya grinned. “I don’t mind, ma’am. But I think you’re underestimating your own strength.”
Ms. Sharma raised an eyebrow playfully. “Oh really?”
Riya nodded confidently. “I bet I could lift you, ma’am.”
Ms. Sharma chuckled, crossing her arms. “Alright, let’s see it then. But be careful—I'm not as light as I look.”
Without hesitation, Riya stepped forward and gently wrapped her arms around Ms. Sharma’s back and legs. In one smooth motion, she lifted her teacher in a cradle carry. Ms. Sharma gasped, her eyes wide with surprise.
“Riya! I didn’t think you’d actually do it!” she laughed, holding onto Riya’s shoulder.
“You’re not heavy at all, ma’am. You fit perfectly,” Riya replied, grinning. She adjusted her hold, making sure Ms. Sharma was comfortable.
Ms. Sharma shook her head, laughing as she relaxed in Riya’s arms. “I can’t believe this. I feel like a child being carried by a parent!”
Riya smirked. “Told you I was stronger than you thought. I could probably walk across the gym with you like this.”
“Oh no, you don’t!” Ms. Sharma laughed, patting Riya’s arm. “Put me down before someone sees this and I never hear the end of it.”
Riya carefully set her down, both of them still giggling.
“I admit it—you’re definitely strong,” Ms. Sharma said, straightening her shirt. “Maybe I should have you help with the senior training sessions.”
Riya smiled proudly. “Anytime, ma’am. Just let me know.”
As Ms. Sharma brushed her hair back, still laughing from the unexpected moment, Riya grinned playfully. “So, ma’am… has anyone else ever lifted you like that before?
Ms. Sharma chuckled, shaking her head. “Honestly, no one’s ever tried—at least not like you just did. I think most people assume I wouldn’t let them!”
Ms. Sharma gave her a playful nudge. “Alright, alright. But seriously… you’re the first student who’s ever lifted me like that. I have to admit, I wasn’t expecting it.”

Riya’s eyes sparkled mischievously. “No other teacher either?”
Ms. Sharma tilted her head thoughtfully. “Hmm… now that you mention it… Ms. Kapoor did try to lift me once during a staff fitness challenge.”
Riya’s jaw dropped dramatically. “Ms. Kapoor?! I knew it! I bet she’s stronger than half the gym equipment.”
Ms. Sharma laughed. “Oh, she is! But she tried lifting me fireman style—over the shoulder—and it ended with both of us tumbling onto the gym mats. I think we laughed for ten minutes straight.”
Riya burst out laughing. “I wish I’d seen that! Ms. Kapoor looks so serious all the time. I can’t picture her dropping anyone.”
Ms. Sharma grinned. “She’s competitive but clumsy sometimes. But if you really want a surprise, ask Ms. Nair from the yoga department.”
Riya raised an eyebrow. “Ms. Nair? But she’s so zen and peaceful. She barely talks above a whisper!”
Ms. Sharma leaned in slightly, lowering her voice like she was sharing a secret. “Exactly. But don’t be fooled—those yoga sessions? They build serious strength. One time during a team-building race, she carried me piggyback like I weighed nothing. And I know I wasn’t light that day.”
Riya’s eyes widened. “No way. Ms. Nair, the secret powerhouse?”
Ms. Sharma nodded, laughing. “Yep. I held on for dear life while she sprinted to the finish line. I swear she could carry the whole staff if needed.”
Riya crossed her arms dramatically. “Alright, now I have to challenge Ms. Nair to a lifting contest. Just for fun.”
Ms. Sharma grinned. “Good luck with that. If you lose, I’m expecting a rematch. And next time, I’ll let Ms. Nair carry both of us.”
Riya laughed, shaking her head. “Deal, ma’am. But I’m warning you—I’m not going down without a fight. I will stay the strongest lifter in this school.”
Ms. Sharma chuckled, playfully ruffling Riya’s hair. “We’ll see about that. In the meantime, maybe stick to carrying gym mats—not your teachers.”
